Katy Van - Beaver Power Bartender
I first came across the Beaverpower t-shirts in a magazine about 3 years ago. I work part time as a bartender and I knew it would make an awesome shirt to wear at work. I got online and after discovering the real mission behind the catchy phrase I knew I had to have one. I too feel that a healthy environment is an important crusade. Beaverpower has come up with a clever way to break the ice and get the conversation started for conservation.

I have found people or more relaxed at the bar and are willing to comment on my Beaverpower shirt and that opens the door for me to speak about the environment, hydro electricity, and of course beavers in a more relaxed matter. Of course it does help with tips too, for some reasons people love it when I sport a shirt declaring the supremacy of the beaver. Both men and women love this shirt.

For a while I wondered if my efforts were paying off, if anyone was getting the message until one day. I was walking behind the bar to start my shift and one guy sitting at the bar yells “hey bartender, cool shirt!” and before I could say anything another customer replies “yeah, it’s about saving the beavers and where they live with hydro things.” I think hey, it’s a start.
